What is naturopathic medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is based on the belief that the human body retains an ingrained ability to heal itself. It is a distinct healthcare profession that believes in emphasizing prevention, optimal health, and treatment though the use of natural medicine that encourages the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Naturopathic physicians are natural medicine doctors who focus on holistic care and incorporate the wisdom of natural healing with modern science to treat the root cause of disease rather than symptoms. A licensed naturopathic doctor (ND) views each patient as an individual, no cookie cutter medicine here, an ND will see you as a unique and complex being who deserves an equally individualized treatment plan.
The therapies used by a naturopathic doctor are diverse; this means that not every ND practices alike, we each have our own strengths that we emphasize in our distinctive practices. Common treatment therapies naturopathic doctors are trained in and use include: botanical medicine, nutritional counseling, homeopathy, physical medicine, hydrotherapy, IV and injection therapies, pharmaceutical medications, and minor surgery.
